St John's Walsall Wood Choir Page

Christmas music page.

Dear members and friends of St John’s Choir,

I hope you’re all keeping well and safe in this second lockdown.

These are difficult times being unable to see friends and family and making music together.

So, instead of sitting at home twiddling your thumbs I thought you’d like to help by adding your voices to the carols Peter and I have recorded for the service of 9 Lessons and Carols which will be streamed on St John’s website and on YouTube .

God bless and love,     Penny     (Director of music at St John’s Walsall Wood).

Here’s what you need to do:

For each item/carol –

Listen to the track and learn your part as necessary. (for Torches there are separate parts tracks with the part bashed out on piano). With the Carols, it may not be the arrangement that you’re used to so be careful!
Look at the list of music to see which verses are unison, in harmony, or men / woman only (top Sopranos can attempt the descants if you feel comfortable with it, if not sing the tune).

When you feel ready, whilst listening to the CD through headphones, record yourself singing the carols (record each separately, you don’t have to do them all in one go, and remember, your individual voices will only be heard by us and then all mixed together to produce a beautiful sound!)
You may record using a smartphone, tablet or PC either as a video or sound file.
When done, send the individual files to us, either by sharing on What’s App or Facebook Messenger or emailing the file to us as an attachment. Please let us have them by Sunday 6th December so that we can put it all together in time for the service.
Alternatively you can upload your files (Video or audio) below.
